I have been teaching for 15 years in Omaha Public Schools, previously at Central Park and Benson West. Although the majority of my teaching and learning has been with third graders, I have also had the pleasure of working with kindergarteners, first graders, and fifth graders. On May 9, 2014, I was honored to receive a Master's Degree in Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska--Lincoln. Previously, I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences with an Emphasis in Education and a specialization in music at San Diego State University.
This school year, my husband and I sent our oldest son to ninth grade at North High School and our daughter (5th grade) and youngest son (3rd grade) to Laura Dodge Elementary School. They are really excited about starting a new school year as well!
In third grade, we will be learning many new concepts, while we will also be reviewing and building upon previously learned skills and strategies in reading, math, and writing. I can't wait to dive into Math Talk and Small Group reading discussions as well as multiplication, division, rounding, and cursive handwriting. Not to mention learning about Omaha history and communities and the Earth, life and physical sciences.
