Welcome to the Early Childhood Classroom

Welcome to the Early Childhood classroom.

Mrs. Joanna Fitch

I have been teaching for nine years, eight of which have been in an Early Childhood classroom.  I graduated from Iowa State University in 2005 with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  I also have my master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.  I celebrated my ninth anniversary with my husband on June 4th.  We have one daughter, Madeline, who is 4 years old and is enrolled at a full-day PreK at Harrison Elementary.

We have been teaching at Hartman together since the fall of 2006.  This is our fourth year of being a co-taught inclusive classroom.  This means that the early childhood students at Hartman will have two certified teachers working with them at all times.  We are so excited to get to know and work with you and your child!

Here are some things that you can help your child with at home to help us have a successful year.  Any help at home would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!!

  • Zipping on coat and pants
  • Snapping own pants
  • Following directions the first time given
  • Being responsible for self
  • Colors
  • Shapes
  • Letters (if child has mastered both colors and shapes)
  • Numbers (if child has mastered both colors and shapes)
  • Recognizing their name
  • Eating with utensils
  • Potty training (if applicable)
